Terms of Service

Terms of Service

These Terms apply to users age 18 or older who use beanote, including its account features, personal coffee records and user-created record links, and photo-analysis tools provided by CoffeeCherry.

Effective date and last updated: July 17, 2026

1. Application of These Terms

Email verification confirms your account; it does not replace consent. Before using the app, you must separately review and expressly agree to the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and the core photo-analysis item. You cannot begin using beanote unless you agree to all required items.

We will notify you in the app or on the web before material changes take effect. A change that requires consent will apply only after you review the revised terms and expressly agree again.

Version 1.1 does not offer Community posting and does not collect a Community Posting Terms acceptance. Its required agreement items are the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and core photo-analysis notice described above. Community Posting Terms (community-terms-v1) and related acceptance records belong to earlier versions and may be retained only as historical policy evidence where needed. The Community tab currently shows only the notice A better community is on the way. That notice is compatibility information only and does not provide access to historic Community data or functions.

2. Accounts and Eligibility

  • You must create an account with an accurate email address that you are authorized to use and keep your authentication information secure.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to register for or use beanote.
  • You must promptly contact customer support if you discover suspicious activity on your account.
  • You must not use another person's account or share or intercept verification codes.

3. Nature of the Service

beanote provides OCR and AI-assisted analysis of coffee-package photos, private coffee records, comparisons across your own repeat logs for the same coffee, and user-created coffee-record share links. Version 1.1 offers only a notice-only Community tab; it does not offer a public feed, posts, replies, reactions, post management, or Community permalink previews. Recognition and recommendation results may be inaccurate due to photo quality, labeling formats, external data, or model characteristics, so you should verify important information against the original source.

beanote no longer offers general coffee logging on the web or a Community interface. Those routes lead to the installation guide or service home; they do not reopen the web app. This does not delete account data, records, or historical Community data. The iOS App Store link is active. Android is shown as coming soon until Google Play public availability is verified, and no Play Store link is exposed before then.beanote.me remains available for service APIs, the protected admin console, app links, legal notices, customer support, data-deletion information, account deletion, and exact-link coffee-record previews.

Features may be added, changed, or discontinued as the service improves. Where possible, we will give advance notice of material changes or prolonged interruptions and provide a reasonable opportunity to export or delete data.

4. Private Records and Historical Community Data

You retain all rights in the records, photos, and notes you create. You grant beanote a non-exclusive license only as needed to store, process, and deliver that content through the service. Coffee records, record photos, notes, and recipes stay private unless a feature clearly asks you to publish something. The signed-in same-coffee comparison uses only coffee records belonging to your account. It may show selected details from those records, such as a rating, date, place, note, or brew information, to help you compare repeat experiences. It does not display record photos, Community averages, or another user's data, and it does not make any record public.

If you expressly create a share link for one coffee record, anyone with its exact unlisted https://beanote.me/records/<share-id> address can read that record without signing in. The page may include its coffee and roaster names, rating, calendar date, place, brew method, coffee details, user note, and recipe. It does not include the record photo, your account name or identifiers, or another record. Review the disclosure shown before creating the link and do not share a record containing information you do not want a recipient to forward, copy, or capture. Editing the record expires the current link; sharing again creates a new address. Stopping sharing, deleting the record, or deleting your account makes the beanote page unavailable, but cannot recall copies already made outside beanote.

Version 1.1 does not let users create, view, reply to, react to, manage, or share Community content. A https://beanote.me/community/<post-id> permalink preview is not a current 1.1 product feature. The pause does not make private coffee records public and does not republish Community data created under earlier versions.

Posts, replies, attachments, consent evidence, deletion records, reports, blocks, and moderation or safety evidence created under earlier Community versions may be retained, deleted, de-identified, or preserved only as described in the Privacy Policy and as necessary for an applicable deletion request, safety review, dispute, abuse prevention, or legal obligation. If a historic item remains associated with your account, permanent account deletion starts the applicable deletion or de-identification process. beanote cannot recall screenshots, forwarded messages, cached previews, or other copies that third parties made before the pause.

You must not upload content that infringes another person's copyright, trademark, or privacy, or that you are not authorized to photograph or store.

5. Prohibited Conduct

  • Submitting illegal, hateful, threatening, harassing, or obscene content, or another person's personal information
  • Sexual exploitation, child sexual abuse material, grooming, or content that endangers a child
  • Spam, scams, deceptive links, repetitive promotion, or coordinated manipulation of service reports or safety processes
  • Accessing, bypassing, or disrupting the service, an account, an API, or a security control without authorization
  • Sending automated bulk requests or malware, or scraping or collecting data through unauthorized or automated means
  • Impersonating another user or CoffeeCherry, or deceptively manipulating service results
  • Violating applicable law or a third party's rights

6. Photos, AI, and Optional Consent

Core photo analysis is a required item used to suggest coffee information and create records. Only if you separately consent before starting the app will photos be processed by beanote servers and Google Cloud Vision. Version 1.0.2 remains Vision-only. On version 1.0.3 or later, after you accept the updated required photo-analysis notice and the server rollout gate is enabled, the paid Google Gemini service may be used only when Vision and beanote analysis cannot identify needed coffee fields sufficiently. When usable OCR evidence exists, only the minimum OCR text needed to fill missing fields is sent; the same sanitized JPEG copy and necessary OCR context are sent only for visual fallback signals such as failed or weak OCR. Google LLC acts as beanote's processor, and paid-service inputs and outputs are not used to improve Google products. See Core Photo Analysis in the Privacy Policy for details.

Before upload, the app's on-device canvas recreates the selected photo as a high-quality JPEG copy whose longest edge is no more than 4096px. This removes file metadata, including EXIF and GPS data, and beanote does not transmit, store, or use location information. The file you selected on your device itself is not uploaded.

On version 1.0.4 or later, after you accept the current required notices and the server rollout gate is enabled, beanote may use a saved roastery or café name by itself with the paid Gemini service and grounded web search to propose official Instagram, Naver Store, Naver Place, and logo-source candidates. No account or record identifier, photo, note, recipe, rating, timestamp, or location is included. Suggested links are shown only after destination and business-identity validation, and a logo is shown only after human review of the exact asset and its content-rights evidence.

The sanitized analysis-original JPEG copy and the intermediate or derivative JPEG copies created for OCR and analysis are each retained for up to 365 days from creation. This period does not apply to your coffee records or the photos displayed with them.

Providing images for beanote model improvement is optional, separate from the paid Gemini processing used for core photo analysis, and OFF by default. Once enabled, the setting remains ON until you turn it OFF or permanently delete your account. Only photos newly uploaded after you consent may have the same high-quality, EXIF/GPS-free JPEG copy retained exclusively in private Google Cloud Storage for up to 365 days from creation. You may use core features without consenting. Keeping the setting OFF or withdrawing consent stops new copies from being provided and queues existing contributed copies for early deletion. Permanently deleting your account also queues linked model-improvement copies for deletion before 365 days have elapsed. See Images for Model Improvement in the Privacy Policy for details.

7. Historical Community Safety, Service Enforcement, and Termination

Version 1.1 does not provide Community reporting, blocking, moderation, or interaction controls. Historical Community reports, blocks, moderation decisions, and related evidence remain subject to the retention and deletion rules in the Privacy Policy. We may preserve, review, filter, hide, remove, or de-identify historic content and evidence, and warn, restrict, suspend, or terminate an account when reasonably necessary to enforce these Terms, protect users, comply with law, or investigate misuse.

The Community pause does not reopen prior posts, feeds, management screens, or public previews. It also does not prevent us from responding to an access, deletion, safety, dispute, or legal request about historical Community data through customer support or the account-deletion process.

Any safety screening or moderation performed when an earlier-version Community image was submitted supplements, and does not replace, lawful review of an applicable report or preservation request.

You may permanently delete your account at any time in the app or on the account deletion page. Permanent deletion also starts the deletion process for personal data linked to the account. We may reasonably restrict content or suspend or terminate an account when required by law or reasonably necessary because of a violation of these Terms, a security risk, or the need to protect other users. Except in urgent circumstances, we will explain the reason and how to appeal to the extent possible.

8. Responsibility and Warranties

We provide the service with reasonable care, but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation or the accuracy of every recognition or recommendation. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for our intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be limited under mandatory consumer law. You are responsible for liability arising from your unlawful conduct or unauthorized content.

9. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. If a dispute arises, you and CoffeeCherry will first attempt to resolve it in good faith. If it remains unresolved, it will be handled by the court having jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act and other applicable law. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.
